What is WRVO-Extra? WRVO has put together a whole other station, previously known as WRVO-2, now WRVO-Extra. The program schedule features shows not currently available on WRVO's main program schedule. We also feature popular programs at additional times. WRVO-Extra programming is mainly news, talk, and information programs similar to what you enjoy on WRVO.
What is HD-Radio? HD-Radio technology allows radio stations
to send multiple programs simultaneously, known as multi-casting, to a radio designed to receive
digital signals. For more information on HD-Radio technology, please visit the iBiquity website. WRVO-Extra is a multi-cast station available only to those who have an HD-Radio. If you don't have a HD-Radio, don't worry you don't need to feel left out. WRVO-Extra is available online just like WRVO. So, wherever you have an internet connection, you can listen to WRVO-Extra. Where do I get an HD-Radio? To enjoy the benefits of HD Radio, you must purchase a HD Radio. View some HD Radio options at Amazon.com. They offer radios at various price points. A few highlighted radios are featured below.Please note WRVO's HD signal pattern is not the same as our analog signal. How do I listen? You are able receive WRVO-Extra two ways: 1) tune to the digital 89.9 signal in the Oswego/Syracuse area or 90.3 in downtown Syracuse with a HD-Radio. Currently only our main transmitters from Oswego and Syracuse, which broadcasts at 89.9 and 90.3 respectively, is sending a digital signal. Only those who receive a reliable 89.9 and 90.3 signal are able to use the HD Radio.
WRVN 91.9 in Utica, and WRVJ 91.7 in Watertown upgrade plans have been put on hold until additional money can be found for these projects.
Will there be a WRVO-3,4,5, 90? HD-Radio technology currently allows for up to 3 multicast channels, however newer technology may allow more. At this time, there are no plans to add WRVO-3 until additional funding can be made available for additional program acquisition.
